Unable to assign category to product

I am unable to add a category to any products. I have created a number of categories, but when I try to add a category to a product the categories do not appear.

If I try to create a category from the product page then I get the error “Bad server response”:

On a different note I have also noticed that in Module Manager it shows that updating is in progress permanently:

Hi steven,
The problem with “Bad server response” will be fixed in the next version.

What about adding a category to products, there are two possible reasons for it:

  1. A catalog with this product has no categories
  2. All categories are deactivated. Please, switch off the filter “Only active categories”
